My Australia Day Weekend

…ruled. I had work on Saturday before walking through Edinburugh Gardens. Everyone seemed happy: hanging with friends, playing cricket/frisbee, eating food. I went in to the city and had Japanese for dinner with Jasmine and Sam, then flanuered about. I saw some cool buskers, then went to Hosier Lane. Awesomely, Everfresh were there painting! I had a nice chat with Rone, and left feeling thrilled I’d gotten to see them in action (when I’m so close to leaving town). I caught the fire works beside the river, and watched some tennis in Fed Square, just soaking up beng around thousands of minds.

On Monday I went to Annie’s place and had a few drinks with her and some friends before heading to Abbotsford for the Bangin Aus Day BBQ! It was heaps of fun with Woods, Hunx and his Punx, and Thee Oh Sees playing. Beautiful weather, people and bands; it was a really special day. Things got manic in the Oh Sees crowd but it was super friendly and fun.  Hung out with Team Scotdrakula later for a few more beers and headed home with a huge smile.

How to Smell a Flower

1. Be aware of your surroundings as you walk, with your senses turned on
2. When you spot a flower that takes your fancy, smile and lean in close
3. Get intimate: place your nose inside the flower, close your eyes, and inhale deeply, flooding your olfactory receptors with fragrance
4. Hold the smell inside you, and know that the flower has shared some of its day with yours

NB - be cautious of those who say ‘no time to smell the roses’ and c.; they are disconnected from the world and dead inside

Tonight I saw Hunx and his Punx play at the Tote - it was stupid levels of fun! Such great performers, and the crowd were totally in to it. Homoerotic up the wazoo, and mega-catchy.
I saw Nick and Sarah, and hung out with Caro and Georgia.
Walking home, I felt electrically happy. I lay in the park and watched stars and satellites. I met the World’s Friendliest (and Softest) Cat. And swung on high school playground gear. The world offers you up so much; don’t be afraid to take it

I’m nearing the end of two months of transient living in Melbourne - in tents, on couches, and housesitting. I’m solo at my friend Jasmsine’s place, but luckily found a bunch of faces to keep me company

Hey, my name’s David. This blog is changing direction a little. I’m not doing much in the way of street art at the mo, so instead I’ll post things from my life - thoughts and pictures and bits and bobs (and street art and crafts and stories, eventually)
I spent two months in Malaysia and Indonesia - read about that at adventure500.
In a few weeks, I’m moving to Wellington. I’m very excited for that, yet not ready to leave Melbourne!

With a sad heart, I’m leaving Melbourne. I’ve lived here for a year and a half (a year in wonderful Northcote), and it’s been sensational. The street art is, of course, brilliant. As are the people, and food, and culture.

It’s time for a South East Asian adventure, which you can read about here. After that, I think I’ll move to Wellington.

Thanks for all the likes, reblogs and messages. It’s been such a rewarding thing to do, and humbling to find that people enjoy it. There’ll be more to come, but for now, it’s on to something else.
